Xbmcbuntu display problems

Hey guys, I have just installed xbmcbuntu on my old laptop to play movies via HDMI onto my samsung series 7 55 inch TV. When I run
xbmcbuntu desktop it displays the laptop and tv fine but when I run xbmc the laptop stays on but the tv loses signal/display. Does anyone know how to fix this?

pandasouljah; i suggest you get linuxmint mate 14 and you'll be happy ever after it'll do everything for you
