I did a search and couldn't find a topic on this. As of XBMC 11, it now plays Blu-ray rips. And it's much faster than using WMC with TotalMedia as a 3rd party player. I'm pumped.

Yes. It lacks menu support though. Sometimes the video that plays is not the one you would've chosen if you'd had menu access. Still, it's progress on the blu ray playback front.

Yes, hoping for menus soon, but love the way it skips the previews and ads at the beginning.

Just tried the new nightly build of XBMC....while it crashes occasionally, it seems to do bluray and also it has the new AudioEngine which does TrueHD and DTS HD-MA bitstreaming built in (no custom builds). It synced up with my Pioneer elite receiver perfectly. The only issue I had was on Transformers Dark of the Moon which has DTS HD-MA at 7.1 instead of 5.1. I got quite a bit of crackling, definitely wasn't good.

I'm going to research it a bit today, see if anyone else has that problem. Other than that, I'm liking XBMC 11, can't wait for the audioengine to be a part of the main builds.

The existing release of version 11, Eden, does blu-ray iso. I'll wait for a stable release to add in the high def audio, for now. I'm loving it.

In regard to the Eden release, I keep getting a lot of weird freezing problems with 11 that I never saw with 10.

I had one happen last night when I went to watch a video. I left XBMC sitting in a folder, and I had a feeling it would mess up, because when I hit back, the usual sound effect didn't play. Once it hit the location window, XBMC froze up with no sources shown.

Sometimes, XBMC will freeze when I try to exit. This is annoying, because XBMC likes to stutter if you leave it on for extended periods, which means I need to close and reopen it to fix the problem.

I don't know if it's a weird settings conflict since I never deleted my settings when going between the Eden betas and release candidates.

I don't think that playing blu-ray rips is the same as playing a blu-ray. It's definitely a step in the right direction. Can it play a physical disc too, without menus maybe?

If something else breaks the DRM for it yeah.

For me, and I believe for most xbmc users, the ability to play blue-ray iso is far more important than playing the physical disk. There are plenty of programs that play a disk, which I don't mind using if I'm loading a disk anyway. But the ability to read my collection from a directory of iso files and play it is a huge step forward.

Yep. I couldn't care less about playing a physical disc on XBMC.
