XBL Gold, but I dont want it anymore

My XBL Gold membership has expired, but I dont want it anymore. The CC they have for me is no good anymore so when I log in with my profile it errors out and doesn't log me into LIVE (I can still play of course though).

I don't want or need Gold anymore, I just want a normal account where I can get patches and roster updates and such. I don't want to play with anyone online anymore.

Anyone have any idea how I "downgrade"?

Shouldn't it automatically change to a Silver membership when you don't renew???

Normally when you have a credit card on file it automatically renews without permission, but since that credit card isn't good then you're just downgraded to silver. If you can still play then I don't see the issue?

The safest way would be to call CS and ask them to cancel.

This. Just ask them to unlink the card from the account tell them that you want to stick with the silver membership.

Or put in a new CC, turn OFF automatic gold renewal, and just finish off your current membership.
