It helped me narrow down the memory I'm going to stick in my AM2 system. :) 4-4-4-12 instead of 5-5-5-10.

Did anyone else notice that the 4800 X2 AM2 chip kept beating the 5000+ X2 AM2 chip in the gaming benchmarks?

Edit: NM, the 4800+ has more cache.

yes that is odd.

i was going to look at getting a 4600 in Sept when the 5200 is released, but i may opt for a 4800 instead.

having lots of cache obviously helps DDR2 more than DDR, possibly due to it accomodating the latency deficiency?

Hmm, nice theory, maybe the lower 4000+ X2 will benefit as well (and go faster than 4200+)

Well, anands comparison showed that AM2 relied LESS on L2 cache. Socket 939 gained MORE from L2 cache than AM2 did.
