Xaser III top ports to Audigy Gamer

Has anyone ever done this before? I called creative, and they weren't much help at all. He said he didn't know what pins on the card would do what I need. I know they have to be somewhere on the AD ribbon connector. I'd love to be able to use the headphone/mic jacks on this case with my Audigy, but there's just no information on how to do that.

The ribbon connector is for the Creative front ports that sit in the 5¼" drive bay, right? What you'll need to do is enlist the assistance of someone who has one of those drive bay ports to use a multimeter and test for continuity to map out what pins go to what port.

The Creative Audigy 2 (D) (Dell original equipment) has a cable that runs to the front panel microphone and headphone jacks. It can even sense when the headphone jack is being used and switch from 5.1 mode (or whatever mode you are using) to headphone mode.

I am not sure if there is any real difference between the (D) version and the vanilla Audigy 2, or if Dell have just figured out (with a little help from Creative) the function of the various headers. It is possible that all Audigy 2 cards share this ability or perhaps the Dell version is a missing link between base Audigy 2 and the Platinum. I have looked for more info on this, and it seems to be sparse. As you have found, Creative are not very helpful on the subject. I'm sure they want to sell more product in the higher price range.

If you could get a good look at the Dell Audigy card and its associated connector cable, you may be able to tell for sure.

Ok, I too wanted to know this, so I looked arround a little and after a little while, found out whcih header was which. The hedders are on the top left of the card, and starting next to the SB logo are:

1. analog ground
2. analog headphones out L
3. backpannel mute (mutes the speaker outputs when headphones are connected)
4.alanog headphones out R
5. backpannel mute again
6. microphone input
7. don't know (but not important...I don't think)
8. voltage referance for mic
9. mic input muten (will be ground if no mic present, 12v if mic is present)
10. audio cable detection (goes to ground if headphones are plugged in)

I haven't actually tried these because I havent got a audigy2 yet. But it should work!
