Agreed ... a very bad movie but if you ever lived (as a young adult) through the 80's ... well, that decade was the best. I found long-term love, got married, had a son, found a long-term "career" all during the 80s.

It was THE pivotal decade of my life ... and yes, I actually saw this movie once.

I admit it.

Horrible clothes, cheesy dialogue, almost no plot, but ONJ looked terrific and I've never bothered to look, but I swear that Jeff Lynne (ELO) had a hand in the title track, if not the whole soundtrack. You can just hear it in the production. (LOL looks like I was right: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdPJ9BtqK7w&feature=related)

Saw it in the theater as a kid, and then not again until just a couple of years ago. I remember thinking that with the right starlet, it could be remade with a darker, less cheesy story, kinda like how some people have wanted to remake Breakfast at Tiffany's, more in mold with the way Capote actually wrote it (though I am a fan of both Hepburn and Henry Mancini).

It would need a more serious context to work. Something else to lend it some urgency and depth. And some actually intentional comic relief.

I saw this movie not long after it came out. And I've seen it another bazillion times prior to 1983 when I was able to escape the grasp of my evil sister. This was her and her friends favorite movie so they watched it all the time. And for the record, I hated it. My standing rule was that anything my sister liked I hated.

Being that its been about 26 years since I've seen it, I had completely forgotten about it.....until today.

Olivia Newton John in her prime?!?!

*Fap* *Fap* *Fap*

YA a lot of coke was done during that time...
