how loud is the stock cooler? Is it worth getting arctic coolers for these cards, or is it a minimal difference?

The stock cooler is EXTEREMLY quiet, I would not invest in replacing it. I believe I was reading somewhere that it doesn't even use 5% of max RPM's at load.. That could be wrong though...

Hey all

I'm at core: 573mhz and mem 615mhz used Ati Tool to OC.

Do you scan for artifacts?

I can run @ 610, but errors out in about 10 minutes in AtiTool.

Have both cards, but have only put the AGP version through it's paces. Currently, I'm running @ 590/620 solid with the stock HSF (haven't picked up a ATi 5 for it....yet, as there has been no need. The GPU doesn't go over 65C under load, and I still don't hear the fan. If I manually set the fan to run at 100%, the GPU doesn't go over 50C under load, but it's a noisy beast at that point).

I've used the artifact tester at those speeds as well. I ran it for 4 hours straight (while I was out running errands) and the time reflected for no artifacts when I was done was the exact amount of the time I'd spent gone, so I'm confident I'm at a 'no artifact' level of speed thus far.

What resolution do you play at?

The only difference between the AGP and PCI-E card is 20 mhz on the memory clock right?

I feel I could definitely use more power.

Yeah but this review Here shows that there is barely any differnece between X800xt and X850 xt pe. So for more power, you need to seek new generation videocards when they come out. Even when overclocked to 575/615 - LINK - X850XT and X850XT PE overclocked show no differnece (in other words you wont be able to increase any more resolutions or settings or provide smoother gameplay because either the cards run too fast already, or too slow for current generation).

Ronin, is the "scan for artifacts" test you are using the one with the ATI tool software, or in the actual catalyst drivers?

Yes using the Stock cooler and my temps never go above 71c when playing WoW for a few hours. The cooling used is excellent, very quiet and seems to do its job well

Way better than my 6800GT, and it moves the hot air OUT of the case.. That always helps!
