any one have an experience with these cards in the PCI-E format, the X850 XT is cheaper and is clocked faster then the 7800 GT but does it necessarily out perform the nvidia card?

Not at all actually. The 7800GT pretty much dominates the X850XT in all cases except in the very rare instance of FarCry . . .

Yes X850XT has higher clocks. But it only has 16 pipes whereas the GT has 20. Also the GT is a more advanced SM 3.0 part . . .

Actually not really.

If the OP can actually get the X850XT for significantly cheaper, it'd be a viable alternative, since SM 3.0 is still really not all that critical.

The X850XT tends to do closely compared to the 7800GTs with AA & AF enabled.

Key thing though is price.
If they are even close in price, then the 7800GT is obviously a much better route to go.

Yea, but does the X850 have SM3.0 stuff? TRAA? Gamma AA? HDR (asides from Half-Life, meaning fp blending), etc (you see were I'm going right?)

Since most of you Americans seems to forget this...
There are other countries in this world in which video card pricing is nowhere similar to how it is in teh US...

Granted, i am giving the OP the benefit of a doubt.

Don't misinterpret this to be me recommending the X850XT over the 7800GT
We all know what card is a better deal in North America.

Who knows what the OP's situation is though.

That's why I say 6800GS. Peforms like and costs less than an 850 with features of a 7800. Pure gold.

or do what i did... get a X800GTO2 and flash teh bios then OC it to a X850XTPE and be happy.... youve spent less than 200 bucks and now you have a fast card so when the new cards come out you can upgrade to the next gen.... ill probably get a X1800 in 6 months or so... either that or a 7800GTX

yep like I told it in the last thread....sold my 2 evga 7800gt co's and picked up evga's 6800gs co and am very happy with the performance in BF2. I left all my settings on high and have no problems AT ALL.....smooth as silk. I also put $400 back in my pocket....6800gs is really a nice card. Sure it don't bench like the SLI setup did but who cares......play games and enjoy. I must say that I enjoy my system much more........
