X850 pro VIVO, or X800xl

Well, I've narrowed my new video card down to two choices. Unfortunately, I cannot decide which one to get.
My options are to get an X850 pro VIVo, flash, and oc. My other option is just go get a x800xl and oc.
I can get both at relatively the same price.

Which one do you think would be better? Especially for my mobo (Asrock 939)

i thought ati only had x800 pro vivo, which could be modded to x800XT.

what? if you are willing to flash, get a connect3d x800gto or a sapphire x800gto2. connect3d will be able(1 failure in 30 samples) to turn inot a x800xt) with a bios flash. the x800gto is basicalyl guranteed to turn into a x850xt with a bios flash.

all new x800pro vivos have the 4th quad lasercut so it take a lot more to flash a x800pro now. you need a conductive pen or paint to phyiscally modify the die before flashing the x800pros, even vivos.

x800xl is nice, but horrible ocer and just sorta an ehh card.

get an x800 pro. they're only 190 now (vs 290). they perform only 5-10fps worse than an xl consistantly for about $50 less which makes it worth the money.

I know the connect3d X800 GTO can be modded to X800XT, but Ive heard of numerous issues with the bios flashing not working on the Asrock 939 mobo. It freezes almost randomly, which is the only thing holding me back from getting that card.


Also, are the X800xt or pro video cards good at overclocking? Finally, I heard the 6800gt can be flashed to ultra and clocked beyond. How would this compare to the X800XT or X800XL?

6800gt doesn't need a bios flash since the only difference between it and the ultra is clockspeeds.

x800xt is about the same asa 6800ultra. id' go 6800gt if i were you. x800xt is a good card and if the price is good, go for it, but generally the 6800gt excels in overclocking, whie the x800xl is horrible and the x800xt is pretty good.
