It shouldnt be. They are far different on MSRP. $100 worth in some cases.

MSRP was the same when they both announced. It wasn't until after the 6800s started showing up the the MSRP was dropped. Nvidia has yet to drop theirs.

ronnn, I think the XT will be VIVO, just like the XTPE. It's possible they'll drop VIVO later, but I think it's a standard feature for the XT cards ATM.

Er, that B3D review was published yesterday and uses WHQLed 4.9s...? That FS review only features a XTPE and 4.8s.

But B3D doesn't do cross-IHV comparisons, so for direct XT-GT numbers you have to go elsewhere (or else collate their reviews yourself).

A head-to-head comparison is definitely in order. If they can get the price down to around $400, ATi might have a real winner on their hands.

This card is not comparable to the 6800GT, it is comparable to the 6800ultra. The x800pro proforms on par with the GT in most tests, the XT will proform on par with the 6800ultra most likely

When supplies go up and the price drops to $399 then it will be considered a competitor for the GT. As it stands right now, its priced about $50 higher but thats probably because of low supplies and VIVO functionality.

Then how do you explain why the other AGP XTs are over $100 more? It is a competetor to the GT if only because its the only one priced so low while at the same time it cannot compete because of the large number of GTs that are $400 or less whereas this is the only AGP XT that is well under $500

The fact that this XT is VIVO isn't suprising consider it seems only the VIVO X800Pros are abel to be flashed to an XT ;)

hmmmm. so you are saying that the gt is on par with the xt? If so, i am sorry but you are wrong. the xt is better than the GT and proforms like the 6800ultra.

yeah, if the XT dropped to the same MSRP as the GT, there'd be no competition, most would go for the XT hands down

I imagine that it will perform better then the GT in some cases and worse in others. Either way, I am referring to this card as a competitor to the GT based on price, which is what really matters when comparing cards one might actually buy. If ATi can bring the price of the AGP X800 XT to about $400, they will have a nice GT killer.

We're talking about the Ultra Extreme. Read the thread, then reply.

hmmm....

I dunno, looked more like you were talking about the Ultra. That aside, the MSRP for the Ultra Extreme isn't $600 either.

There was no PE when the Ultra was launched, only the XT. The PE came after the Ultra launched, making it the new flagship, the XT dissappears, then Nv releases the UE and GT. The comparisons should be:

? ~ 6800
X800 Pro ~ 6800 GT
X800XT ~ 6800 U
X800XT PE ~ 6850/UE

I can't remember where I saw the original MSRP for the XT, but it was on par with the Ultra, and they were meant to be direct competitors until the Ultra was paper launched.
