Ok here is the Deal:
I got my brand new shrink wrapped X800XT All-In-Wonder Yesterday.
Like I do when switching cards everytime, same procedure:
1) Uninstalling the old drivers of the old card
2) Restarting and looking that the old drivers are gone
3) Shuting off the PC
4) Removing the card and installing the new one
5) turning the PC on and installing drivers
Till now- This Procedure worked like a charm.
Yesterday, oddly enough, reaching stage 5, when Windows XP started, it recognized new hardware VGA Controller but when I pressed "Cancel" it would just keep poping up everytime (I wanted to install the newest drivers that I downloaded from the net).
Well I let the screen be, and I just kept on installing the new drivers I downloaded from ATI's site.
After finishing, first I had a problem with Microsoft's .NET framework, that the windows update found for some reason my Win XP copy was not valid, then when downloading the .NET 1.1 framework file, it had an error while installing.
I restarted, installed the .NET Framework successfully, and continued with installing the ATI drivers.
Finishing, and thinking all was fine, I went on to check the performance in games- none would start. I would double-Click and they wouldn't start. Other then that, the card showed AGP on 0, and the card drivers and harware manager stated the card in working on PCI (W-T-F?).
I re-installed the drivers (now I used the original CD), and then installed the drivers I downloaded (to update), and now it works...
But still, it shows PCI!!!
In Counter-Strike Source, playing @ 1280x1024, x2 AA, x4 AF, all details on high, I get about 60FPS-120FPS. It's ok? (This pc is the "LeToy 64" in my signature).
Thank you.
