Officially & as far as anyone in general knows, it's PCIe only unless they (ATI & co.) decide to use a bridge chip or something.

I'm pretty sure the 9800pro performs just fine in its current price range.

yeah, espically since the 9800 pro costs more than the 6600gt on newegg.com
x800se vs 6800 vanilla?
which would win?

I am bettin benchmark wise the 6800. I still like the ati cards. Their minimum fps are usually higher although their avg is lower.

The 9800 Pro and 6600 GT can each be had for $180-190 new but presumably the former should be available for less used and the performance comparision depends a lot on the intended resolution and quality settings. Anyhoo, I reckon there are many 9700 users like meself that have no compelling upgrade path before an AGP X800XL or fixed 6800 variant arrive, neither of which have been announced. For those with lesser cards, a moddable 256-bit 9800 SE may be an option worth considering.

The X800XL is available: Atacom has it for $399.

For $400 bucks though, I'll keep my 6800GT thanks. The XL does not have much of an overclock in it (30 Mhz max on core from reviewers' samples), while a decent GT can hit 400 MHz fairly easily as done by most people.

Just a tad. :)

I'm starting to feel "lucky" to get GT at full retail price plus tax. Maybe next month when more places have these they will only be 20% over MSRP.:roll:

i can give you at least THREE links right now where the X850XT PLATINUM is listed for $449, $451 with ETA of next week (HOPEFULLY :) )

If you chose to buy at places where the SAME card is $1000, then iu strongly recommend a bit research and using the BASIC internet tools instead of buying from the first best ripoff/scam site available. $1000...buahahahah :)

Edit: i also can almost (99,99%) guarantee you that atacom does NOT have this card in stock right now...the othe retailers (the ones who sell for $449) at least are as honest and say itws not in stock and give you an ETA.

I think atacom just gives you the illusion they have it (since you can 'buy' it)..and thats probably their only reason for wanting $1000 for it. Btw. f****g MSRP for this card is $549 !
