Hi all,

I'm buying a video card in the next few days, and I can get the 6800GT for ~$300 (after a rebate), and I am guessin the X800XL is about the same.

Which card should I go with? I play Counterstrike, Battlefield2, UT2004, America's Army and a handful of other games. I just need some info between which I should go with... still trying to make my mind up :)

I'm upgrading from a 9800 Pro AGP, so if you have any idea of how much performance increase that is, please lemme know :)

Thanks!

$250 for x800xl? I bet thats the PCI-E version not the AGP that he needs!
I think AGP is around $300 as well so... better off get a 6800gt... which u can find for 280 if u look around

How come I've answered at least 25 of theses posts already?

X800XL is cheaper than the 6800GT so get it. If you want performance regardless of money, get a 6800GT and OC it. Out of the X800XLs I would get hte Gigabyte one cuz its fanless, and since X800XLs dont overclock well, you will be better off with a silent card.

Ok I've recommended the Gigabyte card to everyone asking this question or asking which X800XL to get. Why can't you search damnit.

6800GT is atleast $100+ more than the x800xl, in my case it was $160 more...I ended up deciding on the x800xl and I'm happy with that decision after looking at some tests, the small difference in performance between the cards doesn't justify the price difference imo.

x800 XL is more expensive in AGP than the 6800GT is, so the 6800GT is the better choice, especially since it benchmarks better than the x800 XL in most games.

What????

OP says he has a 6800gt picked out for $300.
You can get one for cheaper if you want, too.

It looks like the X800XL deal at dell is a good one for $250.

So we're looking at $50 (or less) difference.

I'd go with a 6800gt if the difference was under $50 and it meant that I would get it sooner from newegg.

Not on www.ncix.com :p, they are Canada's newegg, anyways x800xl is $370...and 6800GT is $530. The clear choice is x800xl then.

Because that's a rational assumption to make, instead of clicking on his profile and seeing that he's from NEW JERSEY.

I'm sorry, but you must realize that this is a US-centric board, and while everyone is 100% welcome here, the default assumption is that you are from the US. I'd like to think that most Canadians are smart enough that they'd realize this and he would have said 'BTW, I'm looking for Canadian prices' if he was from Canada.

Profile says New Jersey.

Where are you finding an AGP X800XL for $370 anyways?

Cheapest I see is $398.

You can get a 6800gt for $460 it looks like.

Regardless of where you live, for AGP you can get the 6800GT pretty cheap. I'd say 6800GT.

Ahh nvm poster needs AGP.

Well, if a Canadian guy come around and wants a PCI-e card, I'll know who to send him to :p

Sorry if I came off as an A$$. I just re-read some of my earlier stuff and I think I sounded like a jerk.
