x800xl overclocking help

i'm using ATi tray tool to find the max OC on my X800xl

the mem clocked in @ 550 mhz. but the core only goes to 408. any other programs i can use to check this OC? did i just get a card that doesnt OC to well?

I have heard that the x800xl are terrible overclockers....you can't get anywhere near 450 for the core

I could get mine up to 425MHz but I ran it at 420MHz to maintain a safety margin.

My screen started tearing at around 442Mhz. I replaced the crap heatsink/fan with a Zalman VF700-CU.

408 is pretty low. I'd be worried it's going to fail at stock speed soon.

i got a x800xl and i oc my core to 450 with no problems, no artifacts. ram goes to 560 too. its not a high oc, but it will do nicely when i need it. im also using ati tool .0.0.23. but i also have a arctic cooling on top of it with arctic silver 5 all around on it. iv always been wondering, how do you get the temp off of the video card...if at all possible.
