Oh, that's just wonderful news. I am ever so happy to pay $450 for a card that is supposed to go for $299 MSRP. Let me just bend myself over the salad bar and get ready for....

But that's ok. It will probably be out of stock by then.

I don't really think it's a nVida vs. ATi thing. The whole thing is pretty sad really. Too bad that there isn't a really sharp third player in this industry because they would have had a serious shot in 2004. Had the Volari been a sweet chip, things could be very different right now. nVidia and ATi have killed off all the competition, so we are left with this for the time being.

They're only charging $749 for a card with an MSRP of $499. That's a savings of -$250!! Who WOULDN'T want one at that price?

I buy and use all of ATIs flagship products, and report how much I like them. (note the X800 XT PE I'm currently loving)

While I'm sure ATI was very happy to get your $100 a couple years ago for the 9500NP, I don't think your hissing "nVidiot" every time one of their good customers says something totally unrelated to them will get you any brownie points.

This was newsworthy because it's the first sighting of a X800XL, AFAIK.

6800PCIEs, while not a dime a dozen, are certainly in plenty of computers. Reporting that some vendors are price gouging is hardly "news".
