The only games I play are Warcraft 3, WoW and CS:S which the X800XL let me run on max graphics. So I'm looking for a replacement that i'll do the same, I'll probably be going with the EVGA 7600GT: http://www.newegg.com/Product/...x?Item=N82E16814130062

Any other cards I should get with better price/performance?

Should I wait for DX10? When is that coming out?

Any brands other than EVGA I should go with?

Thanks for any responses.

After reading some reviews and benchmarks, decided to go with the 7900GS.

Thanks for the suggestion.

One thing, when do I have to worry about DX10?

Unless you already bought the 7900GS consider the BFG 7950GT 512MB OC at Fry's (if you have one where you live). USD $209.99 - 40.00 MIR = $169.99 walk in. I picked one of those up today for a build it's a great deal IMO.

Nah I'm Canadian in a really sucky area, so I order from www.ncix.com

A 7600GT will cost me after MIR/Taxes/Shipping $123

A 7900GS will cost me $170

Looking at the performance difference, it seems its well worth it spending the extra $47 Right?

A 7900GS is worth it over the 7600GT for sure. How much more is a X1950Pro?

Hmm... is the Pro definitely out of your price range? I would take a hard look at that. Good card, better than the 7900GS in eveyrhting except maybe Doom 3 and Quake 4.

The X1950pro is a stronger card once you factor in AA+Anis and shader performance, however the 7900GS runs much cooler and would be easier on your powersource (also they are excellent overclockers). If your coming from a X800XL, don't bother with anything 128-bit because if your gonna spend money, might as well get something faster.

The on exception is the 8600GTS, however those have not reached their value parity, and would be slower than a decently clocked 7900GS at everything cept Oblivion and HD playback.

Well, I ran 7800GT SLi on that exact same power supply that moeeom has. I dont have the hard numbers, but I dont think the Pro could draw any more power than that, if at all.

I know for a fact his power supply has 30a on the 12v rail and nothing else in his system looks too power hungry.
