tell me about it!!! The worst thing is the supply of these new cards is low (or so they make it seem) and they just keep the prices jacked up!!!

I don't know if anyone saw it (and it's kinda OT), but over in Hot Deals there's a post about a PCI-E 6800GT (OEM) for $410. That's right about at MSRP. 🙂

$377, $28 shipping from the UK, and its STILL cheaper over here than in the US!

Whats gone wrong?

Oh also, its in stock...

$405 is STILL too much . . .

why cant the U.S. retailers have prices similar to that. . . shipping couldbe FREE!

True $405 is still too much, but jeez, in the US why arent your prices even beating the $377 mark that the UK has.

Isn't the MSRP $300 on these cards? The graphics cards games are becoming downright criminal. ATI/nVidia have basically killed their collective credibility as of late.

Wasn't the X800XL like $2xx when you pre-ordered it with the coupon code from the ATI site?

Edit: yep...sure was. lmao suckers

Good luck getting it "sometime in February" according to ATi.

If then.

I don't want to make any enemies, but I think the real suckers were...

Getting a card of that power for $220-$250 (depending on the deal) is being a sucker? They dont charge you until it ships, so whats the problem? A card thats 99% as fast as a PCI-E 6800GT for half the price, is worth the wait.

I'm being facetious of course, but my point is even with the deal, it's going to be a hassle to get the card - assuming they don't pull an X700XT or some such.

They're starting to show up at (gouged) retail though, so I think this one will actually technically exist...although whether or not it will ever be truly available remains to be seen.

But remember the 6800gt has ps3.0 which is may be more future proof.

There's no such thing as future proof. Buy for now, not later.

let me clarify myself. i meant the people who are getting a hard on over the card just being available for 100+ dollars over MSRP and thinking it's a good deal are the suckers.

I know we didn't EVER expect the X800XL to be here before mid February. When I first heard that we would see them in December, I laughed. I really, really want one though! My plan was always to wait for a $300 PCI-Express card that could get solid FPS before upgrading from my AGP system. My system won't be complete until the new A64 E0's ship and WinXP 64 is on the wire in a final release. This is the smart path IMO. If the X800XL's don't show up at MSRP before WinXP 64 or new A64's, I will probably have to settle for a 6800GT or something.
