Lord, why do I even bother with Best Buy any more?

Web site said 2 closest stores had stock. I drove 35 miles to the closest one, who said they had 3 in stock. But they couldn't find any.

Next closest store showed 9 in stock. The store I was standing in called to verify, but the second store couldn't find any of the 9. Imagine that. Think any employees have new video cards? Wonder what the eBay price is going to do.

The "manager" for the department told me that even though the card was advertised in their weekly ad (though at $249) since he was out of stock he had no further obligation to me. "We can only stock so many". Of course, no raincheck since NOW he says it's a clearance item. No substitution either. I told him I'd take a 6800GT for the sale price and he looked at me like I was nuts.

I'm filing a complaint with the FTC.

You know, even though I lurk here I honestly don't fit the "devil" definition. Clueless customer service lost BB another customer.

Did they recently added this ability to Best Buy's website? Last time I checked, they can only list an item as being in stock or not being in stock -- they never provided info on how many they actually had in stock.

The card is discontinued. I went to bestbuy yesterday with a friend because he didn't feel like buying anything online. I didn't feel like going to bestbuy because the place sucks ass anyway. They didn't have any left for 279 AR but I asked one of the reps to see if he could give me the specs for it and price from bestbuy so I can see if circuitcity has it. The csr had no problem with it, he was actually the only helpful one there and he gave me a sheet that was on closeout price for 249.99. So I take the two sheets to circuit city and the csr that worked there said he worked at bestbuy the year before, didn't like it. Anyway, he said the csr gave me the toolbox sheets from bestbuy (whatever the hell that is) and I price matched at circuit city for 249.99 out the door.

No, the stock levels were shown on the store's computer after I went there to buy one. The BB-tron was trying to check stock (took him 5 tries to get logged on) after I had asked him for the card.

we have one at the best buy that i work at, and it's $282, and the system says it's that way nationwide, so if it's $232 at the GA store, it may be that store only

No go around here. Called 4 bb's within reasonable driving distance and 2 had it but there price was still like around $300. They wouldn't budge on the price. The ones I called were:

Ann Arbor, MI None in stock
Jackson, MI In Stock, around $300 still
Toledo, OH (monroe st) In Stock, around $300 still
Toledo, OH (airport hwy) None in stock
