x800pro or 6800 or 9800pro? Need to order today

Well i need to order some new stuff today. My 9700 is going in my brothers computer and i have to have a card here by friday for my machine. What should i get
Dell has the x800pro for $334
newegg has the evga 6800 for $283
Im can find a 9800 pro for cheap.
I also might get a new $200 17" or 19" monitor.

Whats my best bet. I dont want to spend a fortune plus i never really use antialiasing or play over 1024x768 or 1280.

I was leaning towards the 6800 with the option to step up in 90days since my bday is around the corner

I don't think so brudda, I'd get that x800pro for $334.

Agreed, that seems like a VERY fair price for an x800 pro

Oh shoot, I game my pat D3 answer. 🙂

-ps : I don't have D3. But I still think I'd go with a 6800 class card. As a matter of fact, I'm waiting on an AGP8X version of the 6600GT to come out before I upgrade from my 9800 Pro. I'm a value-minded upgrader. 😱

dunno. I mean newegg has the 6800 for 283 shipped and 293 2nd day. So tempting. I mean
Given the settings and res. you use, you could justify the purchase then 🙂

6800NU or X800Pro. However if you can afford the X800Pro its better than the 6800NU most of the time. I still like the 6800NU though.... personally i would go with that but the X800Pro you linked has a really good price on it.

Go with 6800 and eventually step up to a GT, GT currently performs better on average than the X800 Pro but all these cards are solid performers. It really depends on how patient you are.

well i ordered the evga 6800 from zipzoomfly 278 free 2nd day shipping. REALLY GOOD DEAL plus in 90 days i can step up to a gt once prices level out

I find it funny how the x800 pro dominates the 6800NU in every single game but doom 3, that people would even consider that its a better card... If you want to step back to reality for a second here is some CS source benchmarks, the 6800 NU gets raped hard. Bear in mind that the FPS differential is very slim with the other cards, and also very high FPS, because the level is dust and there is hardly ANYTHING to really tax the video card. Expect HL2 to be much more straining on the video card. But still, look at the 6800 NU in that http://www.vr-zone.com/?i=1181&s=8

if you don't play over 1024x768 and you are budget restrained, why not get a 9800pro? It will play all games out right now 1024x786 on high graphics and it will do great on HL2 since it is geared towards ATI cards. hell, my 9700np can play farcry on high and doom 3 on memdium at that resolution.

Those who cannot wait, will lose out. In this case, haste is a definate waste. The X800pro for 334 is the obvious choice out of the 3 cards you mentioned. Next in line is 6800, and if your considering a 300.00 plus dollar card, why are you even considering the 9800pro? Its the slowest out of the 3.

The x800pro isn't meant to compete with the 6800nu, and its price reflects that. Price is a consideration, after all; many of us can't just go whine to mom & pop for more money for a video card.

And yet so many people compare it "performance wise" to the x800 pro. Also the x800 pro was not meant to compete with the 6800 ultra, but it obviously will for HL2...

why do people throw the 9800pro out saying that it is a "bad card" when it will play any game at any detail (depending on rest of system) at 1024x768? I still view it as the best deal on the vid card market.

By the time HL2 comes out x800s & 6800s will be fossils. If you want to compare them based on one game, why not pick one that's already out, like Doom 3?

i dunno . . . since the X800XT is UN available . . . i guess the 9800Pro would be ATI's 3rd fastest card (after the X800p and 9800XT).

It is still a great card and will run ANY game at 10x7 . . . unless you have a hi-res LCD it is still a great choice.

Don't pretend the 6800 is more "future proof" . . . The people upgrading their 9800pro NEXT year to r500/nv50 will also be joined by 6800 owners since the r500 is reported to have FOUR TIMES the processing power of the x800.

The X800Pro is the best deal of the cards/prices you list here.

Damn. There I go again- trolling and pimping nVidia.
