whenever a x800gto card goes into 3d mode there is a high pitched noise coming form the video card pcb...in 3dmark in cpu tests, it also emmits a chirping sounds, almost like hdd, but higher...it makes noise synchronized with the framerate...the only time it stops is when i lower the core clock form default 400 to 300 or lower...what can that noise be coming from...the card is brand new, and works apart from the sound issue, without any problems...also i have tried a different motherboard and a different PSU

both my gtx and x1800xt has it

also makes the chirping noise when i do things that dont require 3d, such as transferring files from another computer on my home network to my computer

sine both cards had it, it leads me to believe its not the card

what other components do u have? maybe we can find a correlation

mine is amd x2 4800 (altho my 4400 had it to, so it take this out of the equation)
dfi lanparty nf4 sli-d
ocz pc4000 vx
pcpc 510 express psu
74gb raptor
300gb, 250gb, 200gb harddrives

i personally think its the mobo

I have a similar problem. I have mine watercooled, so it cant be the fan. It didnt do it before I installed ramsinks on it, but afterwards it started to make wierd noises, almost sounded like my water cooling was leaking. I dont have a clue what it is.

wtf, the problem is still there when i switched my 7800 gtx for an x1800xt

kinda leads me to think its a power draw issue...since the x800gto probably draws more power than the x700

its the fan controller on the board.... in ATI tool there is a box to check for x850 cards... a x800GTO2 is pretty much a X850 w/ a differnt bios. see if that helps
