I searched the forums and couldn't find any benchmarks, so:
Plus we need something to talk about other than Sander Sassen's "benchmarks". HKEPC seems damn reliable.

Performance of unlocking/overclocking to X850XTPE: http://www.techpowerup.com/articles/overclocking/vidcard/127/3

Looks promising. Beats the GeForce 6800 by a decent amount. Haven't heard about pricing yet, but I feel like it's going to be competitive with the 6800GT so $300?

-The X800GTO² (256MB) is supposed to be $220 according to TechPowerup. Check the conclusion then 256MB on the ATITool config dialog.

All the info you'd ever want to know about X800GTO:

X800 GTO 128MB
Codename: R480
Bus: PCI Express x16
Memory: 128MB GDDR3 (Anandtech says DDR1)
Memory bus: 256-bit
Clocks: 400MHz/400MHz (800MHz DDR) (Anandtech says RAM is 350MHz (700MHz DDR))
Process: 130nm
Transistors: 160M
Fillrate: 4.80 GPixel/s
Memory Bandwidth: 12.80GB/s
Pipe configuration (pipes/shaders): 12/6

X800 GTO 256MB
Codename: R480
Bus: PCI Express x16
Memory: 256MB GDDR3
Memory bus: 256-bit

"the GTO and the GTO² are different products. As far as I know, the GTO can not be modded."

So keep in mind this GTO product may not be unlockable.

12pp/6vp in default config and unlockable to 16pp/6vp (per data listed on Techpowerup's GPU database).

Doesn't an X800 XL have 16 pipes? Shouldn't it be better than the X800GTO?

I can't keep track of all these variations of GPUs anymore...

... The performance increase from stock to modded and overclocked is about 30% in all benchmarks. Final performance is the same as a regular X850 XT PE. Quite impressive for a $220 video card and a 100% mod success rate.
THat card is a modders dream. :D

wait so its basically a higher clocked x800 vanilla, but it can be unlocked/overclocked?
does the pcie version unlock or the agp?

if it has ddr1 memory...it sucks :(

I thought the only disadvantage of DDR1 itself was heat output?

The only exciting thing here is that it might be unlockable, but thats not even that special, considering you can get x800xl at that range anyways and not have to worry. The real unlocking king is the 6800le, which can be had for 125 at newegg, and lots of people get to 16/6.

not worth it for $250, you can get a x800xl for the same price, dont have to hassel to mod, its 100% sure to be 16 pipes, and you still get your warrenty

Without the warranty or guarantee it will clock that high. Quite a smart way for Ati to get rid of excess chips. No warranty for them to worry about and the buyer is happy at that cost point.
