Back to the OP... I personally would run with the x800XL unless you plan to utilize SLI in the near future. It's roughly identical to 6800GT, minus sm3.0 and $100.
I ran that 1080i vid, p43.2e / 9800 pro, i'd have to say roughly 60fps, without a single stutter from start to finish. After seeing the 10fps the NU pulled, I expected it to look like crap... A nice surprise (for a change)![]()
So what did you use to measure this "60fps" and "10fps"? I have a 6800NU on my 5 year olds computer and would like to check.
I eyeballed it with 11 years of PC gaming exp. Infact, after running it I thought about coming on here just to ask you how you determined yours ran 70-80fps so I could bench mine. That isn't a slam, so don't get all defensive and post that the average human can only detect perceive 30fps.
I was hoping you actually had a way to benchmark it other than looking at it and dropped frames.
I never said it ran at 70-80fps, I only said on my 3800+ it runs perfect and on my 3000+ it has two hitches.
I've been playing computer games for 17 years myself, but in no way can I look at a game plating and tell you what the fps are, only if I perceive it as smooth.
The videos are recorded at 30fps, but I believe 30fps for full motion video is a different sort of thing than what we're used to discussing for video games?
