kinda sucks if you live in a state that has tax for outpost (ie CA) cuz it comes out to $432, which is very close to what X800XT's go for

I'm so far northeast, there is no name for it let alone tax.

got my x800 XT for 475$ including tax and shipping. I think the extra 40$'ish is worth going from the pro to XT due to the large performance difference but of course i'll be waiting for a lot longer.

and "I think all these cards are going up in price."

Vid cards almost NEVER go up in price. And when it does, its short lived. So waiting can never hurt.

These cards are not going anywhere any time soon and there isn't a game out there that justifys paying this kind of price for a video card at this moment. There seems to be a momentum started here where people are actually lookng at $435 dollar cards as being a "good deal". I know, I almost got caught into it..... then I realized while playing Painkiller and BF1942 that my lowly 9800 np still gives me a decent game. Bottom line - I can wait until these cards are out in all flavors and retailers are forced to price competitively. What ever floats your boat; I just don't think you should feel you have to "jump" right now or you'll never have one.

ok, i'll try again: if you live in a state where outpost.com charges tax, the total will be somewhere is the $430 range + shipping charges

however, you can order an X800XT from an out of state reseller like CDW for $460, its not worth buying the X800pro when the X800XT is just a bit more

Well I saw it up for sale and in stock since Best Buy and Comp USA were on backorder and were selling for the same price that I would post it.

I have yet to see x800 XT shipping yet, and as far as the price goes, I think many people are still paying off thier 9800s which they may or may not have paid between $350 and $450.00 to get this card.

I remember the 9800Pro selling for $400.00 when it first came out and that was for the 128MB model.

The 9800Pro was not a big jump from the 9700Pro. But when a card comes out that is 100% faster than your previous card which you paid the same for, then I think it is worth buying and offsett it with the $150.00 or so dollars you can get for your 9800pro. The 9800Pro still has a good resale value.

If they made a consumer card with a $1000 MSRP that would be fine with me so long as the relative performance was justified and actual competitive pricing was $800 or whatever. With the X800, the MSRP is not out of line but actually paying it is. Shortly, common retail will probably be $350 with OEM closer to $300.

If u'r talking bout the x800 XT coming down to 300 OEM you'll be waiting years(definatly not shortly). I have yet to see a new 9800XT for 300 yet.

No, I was referring to the subject's X800 Pro. The relative pricing of the 9800XT certainly appears queer but then that was a more limited product demanding higher margins and perhaps being costlier to produce than the X800 Pro as well. Also, it seem there will be more competition from other chip companies this time around.
