Ok, so the x800gto has 256mb of vram, 16 pixel pipelines and a core and memory clock nearly the same as the 6600gt, which has 128mb of ram, and 8 pixel pipelines. The GTO is 159 USD, and the 6600gt is 124 USD. Is it worth it to spend that much more for what the gto has? I wonder about it only because sooooo many people have bought and loved their 6600gt, but i want performance in today's games, so i ask. I am only looking at those 2 cards, so lemme know what ya think!
Thanks.

The X800 GTO has 12 pipelines. If you're overclocking, there's no debate that the X800GTO is a better buy, but it really depends on what games you're planning to play. Look at some reviews with both cards in them and see which is better for your situation and if you're comfortable paying the extra money for the GTO.

So far from the reviews i have seen, i see an increase of about 20-30 fps per game versus the 6600gt, so that might be worth the extra money, i also hear that the gto overclocks like crazy. This true? Any gto users up in here? :)

Yea, im a GTO user. it does overclock like friggin madness, but its not like it needs it, Its got tons and tons of power, and no it doesnt use Vram.
it uses Gddr3. which in my case is better, its awesome for games like Counterstrike Source, HAlo, FEAR (runs on maximum), Brothers in arms, call of duty 2. all those it plays fantastically. that X800 Gto 256 mg 256 bit card was the best computer buy i ever bought.

And what exactly do you think VRAM stands for? Video RAM maybe? In this case it's indeed GDDR3... I'd take the GTO over the 6600GT, without a doubt... THere are plenty of reviews around the web if you want overclocking numbers...

The powercolor is using an older core though so it doesn't oc like the newer GTO's and GTO2's. The powercolor card oc's like the X800Xl and those never got much higher than 440ish iirc.

QFT... You're actually buying a X800XL for $ 185, which isn't a bad deal by itself... :p However, you don't really have to spend the additional $ 35 if you don't want to, because that's already a $ 60 jump from the 6600GT... The regular X800GTO will suffice, especially when overclocked...

I got a connect3d gto back when they were unlockable - for $180 it unlocks to 16 pipes and oc's beyond x850xt pe speeds. It's about 2x as fast as a 6600gt now. But even if it does not unlock, the 12 pipe gto still overclocks to at least 500mhz, and combined with 256mb mem and a 256-bit bus it's well worth the price difference over a 6600gt. The powercolor gto16 doesnt oc as well, but with 16 pipes out of the box you're still getting a x800xl basically, which would equal a 6800gt, much faster than a 6600gt.

when my X800GTO2 was stock it ran just a hair slower than the leadtek 6600GT that i had... but now that i ahve my gto2 at x850xt its leaps and bounds faster... mainly when using larger textures and the like.... i mean at 1024in fear w/ everything on medium then its about the same but when yoiu go up to high or maximum then the gto2 PULLS way ahead since it had 256mb or ram instead of the 128 the 6600gt had. also w/ the gto you can possible get over 6800Ultra speeds... and for only 200 bucks or so...

but stock for stock i think the ATi pulls ahead since it has more memory.

this has been an unbiased review from a previous owner of a Leadtek nVidia 6600GT 128MB AGP 8x and a current owner of a Sapphire ATi Radeon X800GTO2 256mb VIVO PCI-e 16x card....
