And pcgamer supposedly says that Doom 3 runs 1-2 fps better on a GT than a Pro. It's a moot point really, people should really wait for the game to be released before buying a card for the game anyway.

Its probably processor bound anyways and that may be the reason for the closeness. But idk what settings they had it on. Its all just speculation.

I say it's too little too late for ATI to be considering another high end card this generation. They should be concentrating on getting their current high end cards out into retail channels.

Even if they price match and performance match, Nvidia has the feature set.

I doubt it'll happen.

At least they're calling it something that makes sense. If they really wanted to screw people over, they could name it after NV's high-end part: "X800 Ultra Extreme." (Similar to what NV did with the 5600XT)

Or worse the 9800 SE

If the 12 pipe x800 Pro can stay almost neck and neck with the GT, I'd guess a 16 pipe card would be a good deal faster.

5600XT and 9800SE, worthless pieces of crap (I would know since I have a 9800SE in another PC running 325/500).
