There was a test run by matrox that compared the VGA quality between BBA R8500, a reference geforce4ti, and a matrox parhelia, and ATI came out last, while nvidia came second.
It all depends on what brand it is.
Stop saying nvidia quality is bad, that's like saying sedan quality is bad.

i agree with you on that, nvidia cards look great for 2d desktop. but when it comes to avi's i think ati does a better job, which conincides with many others' observations. i could be wrong tho, i dont have any concrete data to back up my opinion...

I'd be astonished if nVidia still had 2D IQ problems like they did back in 1999/2000.

Pretty much all of todays cards do great 2d. The only real problems were gf2 cards an earlier. Everthing above that is good for Nvidia and as for ATI theres has always been great too.

2D Image quality will be fine from either company ,infact even on the lesser known brands IQ has improved a lot from the older GF2 days.

If you are still worried then I would stick with Leadtek/Gainward for Nvidia and Sapphire for ATi is always very good for IQ,but you`ll be very hard pushed to fine a brand with poor IQ nowadays since both companies have taken steps to further improve image quality.
