Whats your problem with asus? They make damn good products. They currently hold the crown for the most feature filled athlon xp chipset, which is also the fastest athlon xp board. They have the best socket 940 athlon64/opteron boards, and will probably have the best socket 939 and 900 boards a bit later.

They make good video cards as well, although a bit pricey, you know your getting a quality product.

They dont have to good customer support, but they are a very good company.

Would be interesting to see what difference the extra memory makes. the x700xt only has 128mb i believe. Looks like there are several very good options in that price range. Hard to go wrong with the x700 and 6600 lines, if you have pci express.

ASUS makes awesome mobos (I own an A7N8X-X) but I wouldn't touch their video cards with a 10 foot pole. Just my own opinion. (Their crippled 6800 series cards, and wierd variants, are a mystery to me)

I'd just like to add that this system is using an Asus P4P800 Deluxe mobo and its been a great mobo in the 18months or so that I've had it. It's made it VERY likely that I will be purchasing another Asus mobo to replace it in the future.

Their motherboards are ok, usually not the best of the best but still up there. Considering its been a long time since any one video card maker has been heads and tails above anyone else, the ASUS are a rip off unless you actually buy a card for all the extra crap it comes with.

ASUS makes great video cards too - some of the best. They are just price prohibitive.

They've got a kick@ss 6800Ultra card, to go along with those Bizarr-o 6800nu 256MB GDDR3 and 6800GT 128MB DDR1 . Apparently the 6800nu 256MB has a very high % chance to have the extra pipes unlocked, plus it's on an Ultra PCB, so it's actually a very nice card once softmodded. The GT is just silly though (although here in Canada it's about $200 CDN cheaper than the regular 256MB GT's).
