No ish, really?

As far as the $229 goes, early adopters have to buy something to put in the slot. Prices will come down as PCI-e starts taking off.

WTF, why do they have PCI express cards when no one has a mobo that supports it but some rare dell machines that have chipsets that are getting recalled

PCI-e mobos are out, I made a post in motherboards section but i guess noone saw.

Abit's 915 and 925 chipset motherboards are on sale at Fry's for $119 and $179 respectively

I hope the bad Intel controller is just those review samples and none make it in the wild. PCI-Express is a logical next step because AGP is worthless now. Video cards have advanced in a way that makes the use of system memory laughable except for integrated video which is another issue. However, there is no differenc between a AGP video card and an PCI-ex card (some tests show the AGP card a little faster but the PCI-EX tested had a slightly slower core then the AGP card) currently and AGP will be around at least a year I imagine with AMD going to PCI-Express in the late 3rd quarter to 4th quarter.

The only people who will probably see a difference are the people who saw a difference from going from 4x AGP to 8x AGp and those are graphics designers. Use... the average gamer probably will not.

I think that the X600 is a big disappointment. It;s basically a 9600XT with faster memory. Its too bad that the cards in the mainstream pricepoint are so poor. I wouldve thought that they would have made the X600 atleast on par with the radeon 9700
