Whoops, must have missed that 😀

I've got the DFI LT P35 board with my Q6600, love it. I'm thinking about getting either a e8400 or Q9450 with a new X48, and would most likely get the DFI if this happens.

I want to wait to see how the Q9450 clocks on P35/X38/X48 boards before deciding though.

Thanks, but I don't need wifi, and if the Q9450's don't OC well, I won't be getting anything.

There is an ebay dealer with 8 Asus Rampage Formula X48 mobos @ 399. Another dealer has 20 Asus P5E3 Premium mobos @ 395.

I am holding out for Newegg to get the P5E3, which I hope is this week. I am waiting for my Q9450 anyways, which that dealer told me that they were expecting their shipments last Friday and a shipment today. I'm not holding my breath over it. January is when I set out to build a new PC, and I have been pretty much waiting for this long.

I placed an order for a DFI X48 board. (DDR2) That and ASUS Rampage were the runner-ups, and my past experiences with DFI won me over yet again.

I want that DFI as well but my PC does me fine ATM. Think I'll hold out for the chipsets with QuickPath & Nehalem. Still I drool over a new board like that sexy and intricate DFI 😛

Yeah in all honesty it was an impulse buy. I think there really isn't a reason for an 'upgrade' since 975X as far as performance is concerned. Of course for newer CPUs that are not supported by older chipsets one must purchase a newer board, but 975X is still my favorite Intel chipset and I'd buy it again for any CPU that's being supported by the chipset.

Jeez $400 for a motherboard. Remember when we were at this point a few years back? At least AMD had fast processors and cheap motherboards at the time.

I ordered up the Asus. My current system is over six years old, so I am treating myself with this system. I use to do the regular upgrade thing, but I just lost interest in the hobby. I am excited to build a new system again. One thing I didn't mind about spending extra on the Asus is that it has wireless-N integrated. Yeah, it is lame that companies put those sort of goodies only on their high-end products for marketing reasons, but I was going to buy a wifi card anyways. Now I just hope that the place I ordered my Q9450 from comes through. I'm getting it from Tank Guys and I heard that they are a good source. My credit card was charged for it so... 🙂

Nice.

I await hearing how it does for you, particularly for running 8 GB OCed.

I have had an absolute nightmare attempting to get my 8 GB stable on my P35-T2R, so i'm interested to hear if they made it a bit easier on that mobo, or if it's just as impossible.

Starting to figure the board out a bit, it clocks about the same as my T2RS did but has finer adjustments for voltage which is real nice. What so far I like the most of the bios settings is the GTL's, which make a difference for clocks that are getting up there. Guess I like to fiddle with settings 😀
