SerpentRoyal,
On the RAM, thanks, I'll double check it.
As for the eSATA, I assume you're suggesting I should be using an eSATA PCI or PCI-E card instead of an ESATA bracket? Wouldn't that be a lot more expensive than my eSATA bracket which only costs $10 versus the price of an eSATA card? I have my eSATA bracket hooked up to the same SATA connectors as the HDDS, the ones off the ICH8R chip, not the JMicron chip. It is as fast as the HDDs, it just won't hot-sawp, so when I want to back up to my eSATA external, I have to re-boot to get it to recognize the eSATA external...

The bracket may not give you hot plug capability. If you're okay with that, then the $10 solution will be fine. I've never tested eSATA with IP35-E so I'm giving you the high-performance, sure-thing solution. Don't think you'll need to fork over more than $25 for a very good PCI-E eSATA card.

My only reaction the that massive passive heatsink is why oh why didn't they just use active cooling.

First those are quite outdated pics - haven't seen this non-SE anywhere for sale but SE version is everywhere by today and we already have preliminary OC results as well: http://www.xtremesystems.org/f...howthread.php?t=160945
Second that's the point in SE: it's a pure enthusiast board which works just fine right out of the box for people without water - note on my link: they tested it with air - but lot of people - including myself - will opt for water.
I love the idea of heatpipe + WC cooling for the mobo, especially built by the mfr.![]()
