I noticed the X38 has a water cooling solution but if your going to overclock using this motherboard can you use alternative cooling like the artic cooling freezer pro 7 (using fans) any suggestions welcome thankyou!

excuse me?

im not understanding your question.

Are your asking if the NB has to be watercooled? Because the answer is no. It can be air cooled, the watercooling is an option.

Also what do you mean about Artic freezer fan? First off if your buying a 300 dollar board, Im assuming your looking at the fusion or maximus primus thingamagic, why are you looking at a 25 dollar heat sink?

You hit the nail on the head , but as usual in most forums you get mixed opinions i have a list of parts but are very unsure, im wanting to build a pc rig with £1000- £1500 i want this pc to be quiet as well as being able to do gaming , videoing ,and to watch tv on it too.
I have made a list of what parts i want to use which i have spent days researching but as i said im confused as to what is actually best ...also i want to use a 32" lcd monitor which i have found for £300
 totally i will also like the option to overclock it i know a little more than a basic persons skillz

this belongs in the general hardware section.

And seeing how quicksilver is kinda peeved, it seemed like you spamed this type of thread in more then one section.

Sometime this week the new mods should be coming out. I'll merge this and your others in the general hardware sometime this week if the votes tells the mods.

Pick out your hardware in general section. Once thats all done, come back here with base hardware, Motherboard, cpu, ram, hard drive, psu. Ask for case and cooling advice then.

You dont ask the same questions you asked on different sections. A lot of people view both sections. Case and Cooling, and General Hardware almost come hand in hand. You need a good case for a good computer :)

We love to help new people out, but need to keep the rules enforced. :T

But anyhow seeing from your first topic, you dont have any clear hardware writen. Meaning we cant tell you how to cool mystery hardware. So you really need to draft your hardware and come back.

Also most X38 boards carry a heavy price tag.

The OP is reminding me of people I know personally who have ADD... and they are virtually impossible to communicate with via internet.

Wild: please spend 2 minutes to formulate complete thoughts and then follow them up with forming complete sentences. Don't forget to make your post readable with line breaks instead of one gigantic run-on sentence/paragraph. This is not a blog or an instant messenger... this is standard internet protocol when you are asking for help.

May I ask how old you are?

Im kicking on 30 nearly just im so interested in doing what you guys have been doing for years, ie (enthusiasts) buying good components fitting them yourselves, modding them installing stuff, overclocking your machines to get the most out of them, and all the other stuff that you spend your hours on.

glad to see your in the hobby.

There is nothing wrong with you asking questions. This i why this forum exists. Its to pass knowledge and ask for advice.

We just need to you to help us out when we help you. Some general info is nice, like budget, what your expectations are in overclocking. Also hardware preference.

Lastly, we like it if topics connected are combined in one thread, but hate it when multipul questions are combined in 1 paragraph! :p

Wildx we would love to assist you, however we need you to meet us at leat 1/3rd of the way.

looks like a mean setup of hardware, however now we run into the problem of your board.

Without any decient reviews or knowing how hot the board can get we can do little to no advising.

The board's layout looks different from the current X38-T2R Layouts because of the wierd PCI-E placement. Also the tight location of the last 2 pci-e slots is not something im very liking, because if you use a double slot card, or a full cover block, you might lose out on that third pci-e.

Give the board a rest until launch date, and then come back with cooling questions. Right now everyone will be guessing. But i dont think you'll need one if thermalright is sponsoring the board on the cooling end.
