X3 Phenom - Windows update

I read somewhere a couple of days ago, that to get the full utilization of the X3 processors you have to install a certain update/patch from microsoft, because they dont natively support processors with an odd number of cores.

Anyone knows this in detail? Its windows XP pro edititon.
