I just spent the last 4 hours trying to rebuild my computer. I bought the following upgrades for my old machine:

Phenom II X3 720 AM3 processor
ASRock M3A770DE motherboard
4gb Kingston RAM

I put it all together with my video card (8800GT), my PCI network adapter, my DVD drive, and my HDD, and it won't post. The monitor doesn't wake up, no lights on the keyboard, but all the fans are spinning. I don't see any lights on the motherboard at all, and there are no beeps. That leads me to believe that the motherboard is DOA, since I already tested the RAM by using each stick by itself (and I would be flabberghasted if I got 2 DOA sticks). What do y'all think?

Edit: Just in the name of full disclosure, I also accidentally bent some pins on the processor at first. But I carefully put them back in place with the help of a knife and a pair of needlenose pliers. The processor slipped into the socket easily after fixing, so I don't think that's the problem.

i would check the basics:

1. if the mb uses a jumper to reset the bios, make sure its not in the reset position.
2. reset the bios (and pull the battery)
3. unplug all cards, fans and cables (but 1 stick of memory, video card and cpu fan and see if it posts
4. take the mb out of the case and try to post it (if it posts, you are grounding someplace.)

It looks like the mobo is dead. I did things step-by-step (although I couldn't remove the CMOS battery), and it still won't boot. I also reinstalled the CPU and checked the pins. It turned out I hadn't properly used the CPU socket lever the first time, but no difference. I'll RMA with Newegg.
