X2 overclocking Temps

I have a 4200 X2, and it runs at 62 degrees at full load, with water cooling. Is this normal, and what temps do you guys get at load?
 
Something not right there at all. My 4200+ overclocked to 2.618ghz 1.475v is running at 51c max load on the stock AMD cooler.
 
you either are doing something very wrong, or your bios temp sensor is borked (like mine). Supposedly my 3800 X2 runs at 75C with 1.4 vcore, 2 instances of F@H. It hasn't died yet, so I know the readings are off.
 
I am watercooled with a 4400+ at 2640 at 1.472 and I am at 44C dual Folding@Home/48C dual Prime95/51C S&M test so unless you voltage is 1.5+ or your reading is off you are way too high.
 
Well, my 3000 did 35 at load, so I think my sensor is ok. I'll try redoing it and making sure there is good contact between it and the heatsink.
 
X2 3800+ OC 2.5 Stock voltage running at 30C idle and 43C Load (16hours of priority 10 small-fft prime95, dual instances) USING, a Zalman CNPS9500, supposedly as good as a basic water coolers
 
3 X2's on different motherboards, all with XP90 cooling, all at 2550, all run ~51c full load on both cores (F@H). Somethings wrong
 
Ya, did you seat tht thing correctly? Apply thermal apste as directed? Running at 1.6V? You shouldn't be having that problem. I have my 4400+ @ 2640 @ 1.472 and I rarely see anything over 51-52 with both cores running Prime.
 
There have been reports of the heat spreader on X2s being applied incorrectly at the factory. Assuming that you have done everything right, your choices are to remove the heat spreader (bad), or send it back.

Send it back.
 
Well, I'm going to reseat it and repply the paste. It is really hard to get the heatsink to seat evenly, so maybe I did mess up. By the way, Arctic Silver is pretty good, isn't it?
 
All good now, at 1.375 and 2.5, ( from 2.2) temps are 32 idle and 38 load. I know it doesn't sound great for water, but with my setup, extra volts and speed do not affect temps at all.
 
Now, after adding 2x1GB OCZ Gold sticks and overclocking my 4200 X2 to 2.65, the PWM IC, according to ITE Smartguardian on my DFI nF4, is 64, up from 50. Any way to fix this? I am getting a new chipset fan soon, an enermax, though chipset is 47. Should I get a new GPU fan for my 6600GT too? Any help is appreciated. Also, what voltage is usually the limit for long term stability on X2s?

I would also like to know...and by long term (in my case), i mean at the very LEAST 6 years...

Your CPU fan was originaly helping to cool the PWM circuits. Since you now have water cooling, you no longer have a CPU fan to help cool the PWM. When I was water cooling my P4, I jury rigged a 92mm fan in between the ram, and the CPU water block, and it brought my PWM temps back down.
 
PWM stand for pulse width modulation. Those big capacitors around the CPU socket are part of that circuitry, and with the lack of a cpu fan, they probably aren't getting enough airflow to keep them cool.
 
Your PWMIC temps, while a little high, are still within acceptable limits. On my DFI board, the PWM temp sensor itself is located near the topmost mosfet heatsink to the right of the socket. If you're worried, though, a quiet fan aimed at those heatsinks will work wonders.
