X2 CPU problem? or Corecell?

Hello,
I have a couple of issues:

1.The Corecell utility that comes with my MSI Neo4 Platinum SLI, monitors the CPU speed, voltage, etc... For some reason it shows my cpu chaning multipliers during my computers operation. It changes from the normal 10x to 3.5x to 16.5x and keeps cycling through those multipliers, however somtimes when I boot it doesn't do it.
Now when I first installed XP it had the CPUs installed and and verything was fine, and I went and downloaded the AMD CPU driver for the x2, after that the computer seeemed to be "slower" than before, and I saw on AMD's website that it could slow the cpu to save electricity and produce less heat when not in heavy use. So I uninstalled it, however after it wanted a driver for the cpus and I didn't have one, so I searched my HDD for the file it was looking for, it found one in a folder called backup somwhere in the windows dir, I used that one. DOn't know if the AMD driver had anything to do with it, but I don't want to get my OS setup if I am going to have to reinstall. The BIOS version of my board is 3.6, and I am using all nvidia drivers (nforce+video).

Thanks Again

Sounds like you've got cool n' quiet enable. I've got a single core proc, but with cool and quiet enabled I get that behavior is corecenter - multipliers and HTT frequency jumping around like crazy. Probably should look for an option in your BIOS to disable cool n' quiet if you want that to stop.

I do have Cool'N'Quiet disabled is there any chance that maybe it's being overided by the Windows Driver?

Also I downloaded AMDs CPU CLock and it never shows the CPU change to lower speeds but it's constanly bouncing around 2000-2025 and even somtimes 2200 will flash up there. I noticed that the Voltages for the 12v, Vcore, and +5v are constantly changing. I am using a 500w psu I got from work cause my 520w OCZ Psu was DOA from newegg, do you think maybe this PSU is causing the problems?

I doubt the multiplier thing is your PSU, I'd guess corecell is messing up. Does this motherboard have any dynamic overclocking settings in the bios? These might lead to the erratic clock speeds that you are getting.

It does have dynamic overclocking but I currently have it disabled, and with the AMD cpu clock utility it says the CPU is jumping around as well but nearly as much as before. I do notice a pattern when the voltages change it is affecting the cpu, then it goes back to normal. I don't seem to notice any performance decrease, I am just worried that I have a bad part and I want to diagnose well I still have a store warranty. Do you guys think that there is a possibility that the cpu is bad? I mean if it does this now I am probably not going to have good overcloking results. I have run 2 instances of prime 95 (One for each core) for 24 hours straight and it had no problems I also ran memtest for quite a few hours with no problems. One thing I did notice is in my bios it sees the cpu as being 2010 MHz and the ram as 201 even though they are both set to 200 MHz.

Any help is apreciated

First thing: do you have the latest bios?

Check the voltages in the bios and see if they're a bit more stable. Also try using another monitor like speedfan, at the very least it'll confirm your findings. Your voltages could be fluctuating as a result to a change in CPU load or clock speed, but I'm not sure if the CPU would "throttle" back if the voltage was anemic (it'd just crash, I think). Have you been looking at your CPU load? Maybe you have some random program that increases your CPU load at random times, which could explain your voltages. As long as your voltages dont fluctuate too much (in voltage), you shouldnt worry about it.

I have played around with the cpu voltage in the bios right now I have it set to "startup" mode and it changes between 1.34-1.36 for the vcore, I have set it to 1.4 and it still has the same problem although the vcore uses a little more power 1.34-1.38. I will try that speedfan program when I get home. Also when I play UT2004 the CPU seems to be more stable, by that I mean the speed changes less and it seems to drop from the 2010 MHz to a flat 2000MHz. The only weird thing is it never did this when I first got XP on, I been monitor the temps of my CPU, thats when I noticed it. (BTW the temps are 32C-38C at full load). And the power was stable before the problem existed, it never would change.

corecell is a buggy POS...remove it...and get something else to use for monitoring.....

I'm glad to hear that :)
Can anyone reccomend a better utility to monitor VOltages, Temps, Speeds, Etc.....

Speedfan and/or use the montiring program built in the S&M 1.73....use cpu_z to get the most accurate vcore

Ok I downloaded S&M and it shows that the cpu is constanly chaning speed between 2008MHz-2013MHz is this normal? When I first installed XP corecell said it was running @ 2010MHz and it never changed. Does anyone think that the AMD Cpu driver for XP has anything to do with my problem? Does anyone else with an X2 have these same symptoms?
