My system seems rock solid 2500 (250x10), temperatures are 29 idle - 48 load (dual prime95, small fft, 12 hours). Vcore fluctuates from 1.5 to 1.52 with random spikes up to 1.56 for a split second every hour or so. It's been set like this for about a week now. Any lower on vcore and its not stable. If I run at 2400(300x8), I only need 1.425 vcore.

Is it wise for me to keep running it like this indefinitely or is my cpu likely to fry from being overvolted so much.

Opinions?

i would keep it at 2.4 with the 1.425 vcore, the extra 100 mhz is not worth the .1 increase in volts. But the temps seem ok. Its up to you, but i wouldnt go above 1.5 on my duial core.

I keep mine all at 1.475. They all do 2550 no problem at 40c for the Opteron, and 50c for the 3800's and my 4400 at the same vcore, speed and HSF (XP90)

I have mine at 2640 at 1.472 but I am watercooling. I can get 2750-2800 but my vcore needs 1.55-1.57 to achieve this and I also don't think it is worth it. I have an older Koolance PC2 case so I don't have the best watercooling. I just didn't feel comfortable in the 1.5+ range.

Are the voltages you guys are reporting based on what you set in the bios or what the temperature sensors are reading. In the bios I have it set to 1.48xx (sorry not at home to look) but the sensor reads 1.50-1.52 in the bios and via asus probe. I guess its possible my sensors could be borked. I have a multimeter but not sure where I would need to probe.

i go by what i set in bios, which i prefer not to exceed +10% vcore. ones at 1.44v and the other at stock.

Seems like people here at Anandtech are much more conservative with their vcore. Most other overclocking websites don't even think twice about it till they are past 1.6V. I'm sure you'll be fine. I've been running a 3200+ Venice at 2.7 GHz with 1.58 vcore for the past 7-8 months problem free.

Does anyone have an idea how I can measure vcore with a multimeter on my board?
