x2 3800 undervoltage

Hi,

If i run my cpu at 1.26/1.28V instead of default 1.30V and it runs just fine, do you think that this can damage it?

I'm no EE, but I think not? Besides, stock voltage on my a64 is 1.4v. I'm surprised that an X2 is "stock" at 1.3. In other words, I'm skeptical.

But if you pass several hours of prime95, then more power (less power) to you.
 
I have Manchester core so the default is 1.3V. I think that Toledo´s default is 1.35V...
But anyway should i run it at lower voltage if possible?

if you can do it, then go for it

just test to see if the system's stable

my o/c on my paltry x2 3800 is only 2.4ghz, but it runs anywhere between 1.32v-1.36v, 2 x prime stable
 
If it is completely stable, go for it. Less power, less heat, whats not to like? 🙂
 
I tested my 4400+ at 1.28v and it ran prime95 for 24hours....Neo2 boards are famous for major undervolting by the board.....

I saw a guy recently drop his X2 to run at like 1.8ghz and 1.2v and it ran fine....just means cooler running chip consuming less power...
 
Should be no problem at all to run undervolted as long as it's stable. If anything you might actually prolong the life of the CPU somewhat AFAIK.

That's what AMD's Cool and Quiet does anyway - drops your multiplier and voltage. I run slightly undervolted at my target speed (1.3v 2.6ghz) on an Opty 165 and I use RMclock to kick it down to 1.1v at 1.445ghz when idle. Lowers my idle CPU and PWM temps by 3-4C.

well i guess thats what that 40% overclock does 😛
Nice overclock.
I wish i could go higher, but i'm limited by the board, set the multy and mem lower and still unstable, maybe this chip could hit 3ghz but not with my board 🙁
