Been on the amd wagon for quite a while, last intel i had was the super fast Celeron debut processor ages ago. ;)

Got some tax money to spend on the rig and have these items on the way:

E6600 retail
ASUS P5N-T Deluxe 780i (figured i'd go with a good one to last me a bit)
2x1gb G.Skill F2-6400CL5D-2GBNQ

Currently:
Antec P182
DFI Lanparty Ultra-D
x2 3800 s939 with a Scythe Ninja Plus Rev. B
Mishmash 3200 ram (My Ultra D didn't like to run my Kingston value ram at 400mhz)
X1950xt @ 688/945 Accelero S1 Rev. 2 with a Scythe 120mm fan

I hear that the stock Intel coolers are really good, but it still appears the Ninja would be a no brainer to swap over for superior cooling and low noise. True?

How much is the x2 3800 holding back my gaming performance, i know it is to some extent, but not really sure. I'll most likely be picking up a 9600gt(or two) or a 8800gts if they get low enough soon.

So how about some suggestions? :)

Thanks in advance!

Stock Intel heat sink is probably good up to ~3.0GHz. Ninja is all around better. The E6600 should easily hit 3.2GHz with little to no vCore adjustment, but the chances are the board will probably overvolt it to a certain degree. You may want to adjust manually.

I would start with 8x400. If 8x400 is good, then switch the multiplier to 9 and lower the FSB to match the clock speed and up the FSB from there. There still are FSB holes observed on nForce boards, so if it doesn't boot at certain FSB try the next interval. (5FSB or 20QDR seems to work well to find FSB holes)

If it helps - i went from a 3800+ x2 on the same mobo as you to an e8400 on a abit ip35-e. Its MUCH faster in supreme commander and it added 10fps to hi/lo/avg fps rates in crysis

Thanks lopri, i will definitely keep an eye out for the MB trying to adjust vcore. That is something i have not read in my prep for my new combo. e6600 owner says 3.2ghz stock vcore, so your spot on. I'll also be seeing what he ran it at overclocking from there. Went to 3.6 with uppped vcore.

I can't wait. I know that this thing is going to blow away my stuff now at stock clocks, lol I dont see my self being able to wait long after i get it up and running before i'm searching for a good video card upgrade ;)
