X2 3800 or Opteron 165

Which one would be better for me given what i do that being graphic work in adobe, gaming BF2 and EQ2 and all around multitasking threw my 2 LCD's. Trade offs .2GHZ to get 512KB more Cache basicly what will 1KB cache do for me when i lose .2GHZ and what will another .2GHZ do for me if i am losing 512KB cache also the Opteron is $25 or so more money. Thanks for help

Opteron r0xX0rZ!!!!! Can a A64 go from 1.8GHz to 2.7GHz with no change in temperature or voltage while being 12Hr Prime stable? Thats what I just did.

If you can find the Opteron and the price is reasonably close to that of the 3800+, it's definitely the way to go.

cool thanks Opteron it is newegg got it at like 355 retail that ok price? o the OEM not bad but got to buy fan and greese is OEM a 1 year warranty or?

o and are the duel core prices inflated for xmas?

bah, if your lucky and get a good X2, it can overclock fairly good too. Get the opteron only if you can find it at a fairly good price

i realy don't want to oc b/c i have no idea how to do it. more then likely i just want to know if i should wait or what to get a good price or which is better if i don't plan to OC and will be runing alot of EQ2 132 shipped isn't to bad for the 165 mabie i will just OC it up to 2.0 ghz that wouldn't be to bad would it? and i only use stock cooling

jah yea but you can still pre order i get that price i was just wondering if thats the same chip buy.com doesn't list it very well.

The Opteron 165 is at 1.8GHz with 1mb of cache on each core. X2 3800 is 2.0 GHz with 512 kb of cache on each core.
