Scheduled to ship September 25th

Can you say "paper launch" ...come on ackmed you can do it. Sound it out with me
Pey-per lawnch.

seriously does anyone remember 50 day months? The 25th isn't mid september to me.

DailyTech previously reported ATI was pushing back the launch of its Radeon X1950XTX and CrossFire graphics cards from August 23rd, 2006 to September 14th, 2006. DailyTech made an error and the launch date is still on for August 23rd, 2006. On August 23rd, 2006 the performance NDA of X1950XTX and CrossFire cards will be lifted. Retail availability (not embargo) of Radeon X1950XTX and CrossFire cards are expected on September 14th, 2006. The email sent out from ATI is as follows:

Please Note: ATI has pulled the Launch Date for the Radeon 1950 Series back to Aug 23rd, as originally scheduled. We will anounce on the 23rd and press embargo will be lifted. We will state that broad availability (retail on-shelf) will be mid-Sept. Apologies for any confusion, thank you-

People remember this don't they. You know, how they said it would be here in mid-sept.
Either Monarch are messing around or ATI isn't going to be able to deliver.

Reviews say the 14th, we'll see if they meet that or not. Its not a paper launch if they meet the date for the hardware to be available. If cards are not out on Sept 14th, or before, its a paper launch. It doesnt get any simpler than that. And, most people on this forum per the poll, like this type of card release. Get over it, move on, and stop trolling. If thats possible for you. Either stop trolling, or you'll stop getting responses. I dont play those kiddie games.

You are right most people per the poll like this type of launch: Reviews on day Y, released for mass availability on day X

But that won't hold true if ATI botches this launch and turns it into another 7800gtx 512. I already view this as a paper launch, you have a different opinion and that is fine. It's just that from this new information we won't be getting an x1950xt shiped until sept 25 which I think even you can agree would be a paper launch. Not only that but Monarch goes on to say to expect shortages on the part, which is a far cry from being released for mass availablity. The thing most people liked about this launch from the poll was that there was going to be mass availablity. The one choice that had bad availablity got only 6 votes so if Monarch is going to be the rule instead of the exception to the x1900xt release then only about 3% of the 181 polled like this type of launch.

I agree, that ATi has to release with mass avail, if they're going to delay the launch. The 7800GTX 512MB was a debacle. After the first week or two, tt was much higher than MSRP, and very hard to find. While it wasnt a paper launch, it sure wasnt a very good one.

Keep in mind, the HIS brand is the one claimed to be in on Sept 25th, not the ATi version. While I dont buy into the dates, this is just a preorder, and they're probably guessing. As I said, we'll see what happens. If they dont have cards available by Sept 14th, its going to look very bad for ATi.

I agree too. I am kind of torn on what I would want more ATI to have released the cards on the review day and have a little bit of availablity problems, or to release with supposed mass availabilty. On one hand I could actually have a chance at getting a card sooner, but on the other hand the prices would probably be better and it would be as hard finding a place to buy from. All things aside if ATI doesn't have mass availablity on release day they are going to be in some hot water.

I know this is the HIS version, but there usually isn't really any difference in the arival of the ATI branded cards vs. the Powercolor, Saphire, or HIS cards. I do hope this is just Monarch covering their rear ends. It's just I have seen the writting on ATI's and Nvidia's walls and am expecting the worst. That usually works out better for me, if everything works out fine then I am happily wrong.

Overclockers in the UK have it stated for the 11th of September for availability, but of course it could change...

Good I hope these do come out the mid of september. I just worry that these preorders will do what they did with conroe: burn out the availiblity and raise the price.
