X1950XT (yes XT ) AGP $$269.00$$ AGP

Impressive, but I ask myself whether its worth it to keep sinking more money into my aging system....must resist...

Except that the pcie version can be found for probably $65 cheaper.

One thing to remember this is clocked to x1950XTX speeds (648 stock) and is garauteed to clock to 675 (648 stock) and runs 10c cooler. So find a 1950xtx pci-e with 256 mb at the same price point would be a better comparison.

Nice find, as I could still use a decent AGP card for a couple of years or so before I have to upgrade to PCIE.

Anyone have any links to AGP card comparison sites that reference this card or one like it? What are some 3DMark scores on it?

Just find a x1950xtx pci-e card review and take off 5% at most. At resolutions of 1600x1200 or below.

It's gi-ganormous!

Good deal for AGP owners I guess, although I would spend less and use the extra money to move up to the PCI-E age. I know people are sentimental and all, but really, you're not even going to be able to move this into a newer machine when you upgrade.

If you can find a board to support your CPU that has a PCI-E slot (even 754 A64s have PCI-E boards out there for like $40 on the egg), you could buy the PCI-E version of this for about $70 cheaper, and likely use the same CPU and RAM you have now. Seems like a better option IMO.

My desktop is an Athlon Barton @2.0 GHz. Would it be dumb for me to buy this video card? I don't have time to build a new system, so it's either this card or buy a pre-built PC. Currently have a nVidia 6800.

this may suck your cpu dry, but will be a huge increase in perf over virtually any thing else u could spend that same money for... and down the road u could get a used 939 x2/agp mobo to boost your cpu perf... but u won't be playing supreme commander with your cpu...

since u have no time to build...
but with a little work u could come close in dollars with a $42 geeks msi kn8 and a $120 x2 3800 from newegg and your mem (if it's ddr400) and a cheap 19xx or 7900gs (both pci)... maybe a couple more bucks and a little work, but probably better perf/longer life...

You're going to be severely CPU limited, but you'll see some performance increase, and I guess if you pick up a 939 AGP CPU/mobo later down the road, you'll be in good shape for awhile.

I just spent $10 less on the 8800GTS like 3 weeks ago...they're really sticking it to AGP owners with these prices, I tell ya.
