X1950 GT

what for...slower than x1950pro which comes for a good price already. and g80 midrange cards are comin in march...so....better not spend ur money for last gen crap.

would be like nvidia putting out more 79xx series cards... don't see the sense in buying something like that at this time... i mean, how much marketshare is left out there to take from the 7900GS (which came out last sept iirc)?

Not my job to worry about bottom lines, but most people I know see $150 as tops for a video card. So if listed at $150, probably can expect the thing around $100 on sale. Until vista actually works and real dx10 games are out - looks pretty good to me.

To my knowledge, Vista works fine, and Supreme Commander and Company of Heroes are scheduled to receive DX10 patches as early as March.

Still, for $150, it seems like a good deal. The people with this kind of budget probably wouldn't be looking at Vista or DX10, anyways.

God, I hope not. AGP should be let die in peace.

agp haters are funny...

i mean, what's the attraction? despite the industry's push to pcie, agp systems are still quite viable, and there are LOTS of agp systems around that would benefit from a decent video card (where the majority of framerate limitations still exist) .. there's a reason the 1950pro agp thread is 14 pages long...

Thanks for the info everyone. In the market now and I was leaning towards the X1900GT based on Tom's recommendation as the best bang for the buck period. ($125 at ZZF with VIVO right now).

One thing I can't figure out from the reviews is how the X1950GT compares to the X1900GT. The reviews are too concerned with comparing to the X1950PRO/7900GS.

Looking at the specs ATI is doing what they did with the X1900GT v2, slowing the GPU clock down and upping the memory speed. OK different GPU I'm sure so maybe not apples and apples, but the specs on newegg show 500mhz GPU and 1ghz memory speed (versus 512mhz/667mhz for the 1900GT).

I would say it would be a nice boost. I originally went from a X800 Pro...to a X1800XL, and it was alot different. So this is about the same deal here.

I noticed that the x1900GT really needed that downclock on the core, but the memory can just soar. I've got my v2 x1900gt at 546.5/855.5(1711 effective), and thats the max it will go. It just goes crazy after those clocks.

I'd buy one for a final upgrade

hey, I'd buy one for one of my other AGP rigs that doesn't quite meet the X1950Pro's PSU requirements...I reckon it would be a good match for a high end P4.

They are just trying to justify spending all that money on a whole new PCI-E setup, thats all.
