X1900XTX vs 512MB GTX

Now that I have both cards, I'd like to present a straightforward, benchmark only (well, maybe some personal opinions based on what I see) type of thread, and have the Video folks actually request what they'd like to see.

I will be using the box in the sig, with the FX57 at stock speeds, and will be using the latest available nVIDIA drivers and the developer Catalyst drivers (unless someone thinks I shouldn't and gives me a good reason for it). Post what you'd like to see (games, resolutions, settings, whatever), and if I have it, I'll benchmark it on both cards.

Since I believe I'm the only one currently here who has access to both cards, I was hoping I'd be doing you gents a favor by providing results from a purely hardware standpoint (this is not a soapbox for one is better than the other. The idea is to let the benchmarks simply speak for themselves).

Because I'm working extended hours (read 80-90 a week) right now, I won't be able to get to actually doing this for a couple of weeks, but I figure that should be enough time to accumulate several requests.

Use the 6.2beta's that are floating about and nvidia's latest drivers.
1920x1200 ofcourse!
4x adaptive/transparency AA and 16xAF on all games
Highest quality setting in the nvidia control panel.

BF2, FEAR, X3, Quake 4, AOEIII, DoD:Source.....

The developer drivers actually have later driver versions (as shown when I compared my screenshot to Joker's), but I suppose I could try both. The dev drivers *should* show better results.

Well, since you won't be doing this for a few more weeks, the official cat 6.2's should be out. Just use those.

Just because I do not trust you does not mean it was a flame. If you search through my past posts over the years you will find I have a BIAS towards nVidia as a company, but only slightly. I am not affraid to give ATI credit where credit is due. I do not believe you are capable of this, that is all. Now, if you wish to take it as a flame, you take it wrongly.

Let's hope so. ATi did say February (I never got a date, though), so here's fer hopin. If they're out, you bet your buns I'll use em (and I'll even take screenshots of the CCC with the info, just to show those possible naysayers that I'm trying to jade benchmarks).

How about, if you can do it, some 1680x1050 screen res.?

Then you should do some searching through MY posts, since it seems you've not done so. I've said it before, and I'll say it again. If credit is due, it's given. You know which AGP card is in my fiance's box right now? An X850XT PE. Why? Because it was the fastest available AGP based card when I built her box. The box I'm TYPING on right now has an X1800XT in it (both statements I've made before). Really now, shall we talk about green and red? I'd rather not.

As far as whether your post was offensive or not, obviously I wasn't the only one that noticed the inflammatory nature, so it wasn't just me.

You're gonna make me humble my 2405 down to 1680x1050? I'm guessing you have a 2005 ).

Is there an actual way to benchmark AOEIII? I haven't really looked.

Is there an actual way to benchmark AOEIII? I haven't really looked.

Hahaha, No, I have an Apple moniter. I got it down to a similar price to the Dell, and had no use for the Dells extra connections, so I went with Apple

No idea, I've yet to even look at AOEIII. Aside from screenies, of course.

Perhaps some common clock comparisons and some stock clock comparisons in something with an easy method of testing settings? Like FEARS testing, for example. Seeing as that's pretty quick, too.

Might I add that I am somewhat green with envy over your 1900?

You bet, since we've been told that the fixes for B&W2 are in the next set of drivers.

Again, not the easiest to benchmark, but I can probably just FRAPS that, I suppose.

I'd like to see X3 results as well, if you can manage that. Not sure if egosoft has a standalone demo/benchmark, but I think they might.

Highest res, highest eye candy settings, full throttle ahead. That's where the differences between those monsters, if any, will show.

does your motherboard only have one slot between the two 16x pcie slots? curious about what kind of temps you get in SLI if you're using the stock cooler. my motherboard does and I have 1 512 gtx, if I go SLI neither card would have a adjacent slot free.

also another request for AoEIII in SLI, x-bit labs is the only place that has benchmarked the game but they only use 1 card.

Not crapping, just giving a heads-up to those that don't know who he is or what his agenda is about. I wonder if Sony condones their hardware being used for review purposes on forums?

i don't have a problem with your benchs and don't have any special requests EXCEPT to note the difference in "noise" levels between the 512GTX and the XTX at their 'stages'.

You probably don't have a sound meter but could you record and post some sound clips taken at similar distances and at the same recording levels from each [closed or open] case.
