I too have many a times got half their fps, to be on the safe side if their system gets 90-120 fps, then you might be able to get 60fps or so, that is however not necessary, Quake 4 gets them almost 100 fps on a 6600GT at 10X7 Ultra, try to run it even on high and see whether you get anywhere close.

On the other front, I think 50fps is low for your rig, you should be able to play butter much higher.

* Intel Pentium 4 560 CPU (3.60GHz, 1MB L2 cache)
* Intel Desktop Board D925XCV
* 2 x 512MB PC4300 DDR2 SDRAM
* Samsung SpinPoint SP1213C hard disk drive (Serial ATA-150, 8MB buffer)
* Microsoft Windows XP Pro SP2, DirectX 9.0c

that was their test system...so you should definitely be able to get more than 100fps...if x-bits labs is to be believed (which i have no reason not to).

I get about their same FPS though I run at 1920x1200 and I turn shadows off too..

4X AA and 16x HQ AF Everything else on high in the BF2 settings except again I turn shadows off cause they look like crap.

On another note I get a nice bump in FPS using the 6.6 Cats.

Opteron 144 @ 2.9ghz is beyond 64bit 4000..

It runs smoothly enough..

but STILL 100 vs 50 that is just unacceptable.

OH ,,, wowowo

ATI Catalyst:

* Catalyst A.I.: Standard
* Mipmap Detail Level: Quality
* Wait for vertical refresh: Always off
* Adaptive antialiasing: Off
* Temporal antialiasing: Off
* Quality AF: Off
* Other settings: default

they turn on catalyst AI??? that thing turns down image quality dramatically, at least it does for halo... hmmm.. anyone know anything about this this is from the xbit labs article

I've never had any issues with Cat AI. I also leave it on standard. Though I have never played Halo so I donno about that game. It works fine for me in all the games I play. ( BF2 and CS:S)

OKKKK,, installed Cat 6.6 like u guys,, and the frames 6xAA 16xhqaf 1680x1050 went up to AVG 67fps and yes its like BUtter now.... STILL

Believe me when i say the Cat AI ****** things up.

I think it auto adjusts ur AA and AF settings to fuk with u.. Either way, i'm happy "AT THE MOMENT"

NOTICE the AA and AF in each image.

they're jpg images so ignore the smudges due to compression.

Hey OP...that website you were qouting said "Wait for vertical refresh: Always off ". i have a nvidia card so im not familiar w/ ATI control panel but i assume that means vsync off...if it is..you might want to turn off vsync...i believe vsync is capping you at 60fps...
Tuning vsync off might give you a good bump on FPS, thats assuming you have yours turned on..

That's like trying to compare my hand to my butt. They don't look anything alike.

Try using the exact same image, but one with and one without the AI on. Not two completely different images.

Hey, 50fps is WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAYYYYYYYYYY too low man.

My settings are 1680x1050 6xAA/16xHQAF and mine usually sits above 100 and often goes up to 120-130+, and rarely drops below the 80s...

BF2 is quirky though man...make sure you clean BF2's cache each time you update drivers and such, but 50fps is far too low

I also get over 100fps almost all the time at 1600x1200 with 4x AA. If you have vsync or adaptive AA enabled, turn them off and see if it gets any better.

AI doesn't turn off anistropic filtering

BF2 is quirky though man, sometimes things just dont work. I dont use adaptive AA on it becuase it doesnt seem to work well either.

If you dont have CCC starting up automatically you wont have anything but default settings (ie, no anistropic filtering) in BF2 unless you start it up sometime before starting up BF2 `

Also after the patch the minimap seems to have lost all of its original detail, wtf is going on here?

I'm SOOOO FRUSTRATED,, like honestly i thought ATI was going to be great even though i knew they had some driver issues,, but it has just been problems after problems. ehh,, oh well,, LETS FIX THIS,, THXXX

change your graphics settings when u patch too, it usually does revert back to origninal .. in some cases... that looks like your textures is set to med

anyways, bf2 is the worst game in terms of being solid , its full of bugs even with the latest patch

omfg...I turned on Catalyst AI --> advanced. Rebooted... NOW everything is like sex,, better than sex cuz its' got antialiasing and anistrop...

Seems like my problems before were settings that needed to be reloaded ,, that some how would only do so on a reboot.

Played Doom 3 and got that 60 flatline made me almost pi55 myself. though it does require vsync. GO CAT AI...

Still need that texture pic from you guys to see if something is wrong on my end.. THX ..

Catalyst AI is indeed an implementation to add optimisations to games, to increase performance. On standard, Catalyst AI performs optimisations which have absolutely no effect on image quality. On Advanced, it performs further optimisations but which very slightly alter the image quality.

I've read that sometimes Catalyst settings can be quirky and require a reboot to actually take effect. Dunno, don't have enough time to play games now. Stupid 12-14 hour work days.

You must be one of them IMPORTANT PEOPLE on wallstreet who leaves the wife and kids at home to bring home big money, and yet be under appreciated because the wife is lamenting in her own incompetence in getting a job, while falling to the evil side reading/thinking feminist thoughts hateing you for no reason other than because she has a major estrogen build up. "I FEEL FOR YA!" :beer:

RIGHT and does anyone have a PICTURE OF THEIR CATALYST AI ON in battle field 2....at 1600x "XXXX" resolution. or 1280x1024
