All,

After upgrading my ATI drivers from the original that came with the CD and x1900xtx to the latest Catalyst 6.2 drivers off of ATI?s web site, I notice that I am now unable to completely run through the ?Run automated clock configuration utility? in the ATI Overdrive tab of the ATI Catalyst Control Center. I tried running the utility several times and after several minutes the screen turns black and monitor seems to go in sleep mode as if not receiving a signal from the graphics card.

I reboot the system and the test continues for the memory and the same thing happens. I reboot again [manual reboot both times ? black screen] and am greeted with a message stating the test did not complete and it would restore the last known good configuration.

My current settings for the graphic card are as follows:

Graphics Processor Status: 689MHz Requested
Graphics Memory Status: 792MHz Requested

Prior to installing the latest drivers and control center, I removed the original version I installed from the CD, rebooted and then also ran the catuninstaller utility from ATI?s web site. I rebooted again and then installed the new driver, rebooted and installed the new control center.

Using the drivers and control center found on the CD, I was able to successfully run through the automated clock configuration utility. Anyone else experiencing this? Nothing else on the system changed and my temperatures on load for the CPU never exceed 46C and motherboard never exceeds 32C while running two instances of Prime95 for 15 minutes. I?m just using stock cooling on the ATI card and it is an ATI x1900xtx retail card. All else works fine and no problems with gaming on the system.

Thanks

Have you tried selecting just a slight increase in MHz to see if it fails? I would try a 5MHz bump just to see if it is a driver related issue or a maxxed out chip.
