X1900XTX Anti-aliasing problem

Every time I turn it on anti-aliasing, I either get a black screen or major artifacts.

If I get the black screen, I have to do a hard reboot and delete the application settings otherwise I can't even access the menu. Everything else works fine.

Could it be a driver issue or is it hardware?
 
Yeah 7.9 with the ET:QW hotfix. But the problem has been persisting for about a month now. I just thought the first time it was game specific.
 
I didn't have this problem using in-game AA settings with NFS: Carbon or NFS: Most Wanted, but I did get the same thing on my X1900 XT when I try to implement AA in Medal of Honor: Airborne. I turned on AA in the Catalyst menu (7.9) and I changed the executable file name to "Oblivion.exe" and when I turned on the game, I got a bunch of artifacts on the screen. 2D things like menu option words showed up fine so I figured it was a driver issue rather than a card issue.
 
For me I thought it was NWN2 specific, but when I tried AA on CSS and DODS, I got the same problem. So I'm guessing this is a card or driver problem now. I might test this on more games once I get back.
