Which brand would you suggest? Also, are NewEgg open box items trustworthy or are they likely to have problems?

PowerColor retail cards have lifetime warranty.
As for open box, what exactly do they mean? the box opened up on the over there and the card came tumbling out into a rainy street? Or RMA returns?

yikes -- I don't know what kind of person would do that. Certainly not someone I'd like to get a used vid card from...

(1) Powercolor has a lifetime warranty on retail cards vs 1 year on HIS, but HIS has a slightly better reputation for overclocking & also offers the IceQ cards with a factory-installed NV-Silencer type cooler.

(2) I'd stay away from any "open-box" video card, even from Newegg ... my guess is a lot of these are cards that didn't overclock to the buyers expectations & thats why they were returned.
