I just ordered a X1900XT from Newegg for my new build. I am awaiting more motherboards supporting conroe this may take awile and well I was wondering if I would be able to use the X1900XT in my shuttle. My guess is just plain no....

considering the shuttle I have uses a 240W PSU though shuttle makes decent power supplies I am doubting I will be able to use it in my shuttle.

but than I rembered I could use another PSU I own in the mean time a Sparkle 350W

Now it looks like this would work the only problem is it doesn't have a SATA Power Connector would it be safe to use a 4pin to SATA connector? I wouldn't like to damage anything just because I wanted to try out the X1900XT.

I am going on 4 day vacation so I won't be posting back until I get back. I have to go to asleep as I am supposed to wake up at 5 LOL and it's 2:14AM 🙁

A sparkle 350 won't do, unless you want to spoil the card and maybe rest of the system as well.

That card only gives 18A on 12va line whereas a 1900XT has a minimum recommendation of 30A!

Go get atleast a 500watts quality power supply, not of a cheapo brand like Sparkle. Not Antec Smartpower series either. If you have a dual core system and plan to oc as well then get a very very good quality 550-600watts psu.

Try to stick to decent stuff, at the very minimum Seasonic or Antec NeoHE. Though Fortron, OCZ etc may be better.

Sparkle is not a cheapo brand. Fortron and Sparkle are the same company. Its FSP models are identical to Fortron models and are good.

Antec psu use low quality fuhjyyu caps even in its Neo HE line and I will never recommend them at all since there are better choices available for the same price.

FYI, it's FSP. Fortron Sparkle Powersupplies. Nothing wrong with Sparkle.

It is. Ike is incorrect.

Sparkle is SPI: Sparkle Power Incorporated

Used to be a separate company until Fortron Source bought them out a few years ago.

Are you sure? I'm thinking it was Fortron Source before they joined with Sparkle. Now it's FSP group, where the S is for Sparkle.

I will do a quick Google search.

Edit:
In my short research I found differing results.

http://www.techpowerup.com/reviews/FSP/Zen
"FSP Group was founded from the companies Fortron Source and Sparkle Power Intl., the P means Power Supplies."

http://www.silentpcreview.com/article280-page1.html
"For the record, FSP stands for Fortron-Source Power"

I just got an OCZ gamexstream 700w along with the x1900xt. That should be enough right? Waiting for my 6600 tomorrow before I put it together.
