X1900XT Crossfire and NF4 motherboards?

I have single X1900XT, and a DFI LanParty Ultra-D.
I know it's single-card board, but I heard itcan be easily modded into a dual card motherboard.
Now, I also heard you can't use Crossfire on a Nvidia motherboard, and vice verse? Is this true? Would I need a motherboard with an ATI chipset to run Crossfire?

there is no way (to date) to make the ultra d into a crossfire board.

Nforce 4 SLI boards will only work with SLI (Nvidia) cards. You will need an ATI R480 or R580 chipset motherboard to run Crossfire.

Yep. This one, in fact, has too many features for even a hardcore overclocker.
