Woukd a SAPPHIRE Radeon X1900GT 256MB 256-bit be worth it even wih DX10 coming out? I mean, how long will it be until DX10 becomes affordable? I have an x800pro and I am just dying for an upgrade. Any input would be great.

Unless you want to wait til spring next year for midrange DX10 cards, and not wanting to spend atleast 400 dollars (a 8800GTS AR going for that price) then i suggest you go buy it.

Early DX10 games wont be DX10 only. DX9 games will still be the majority. The transistion from DX9 to DX10 might take a little while jsut like DX8--> DX9.

What is your current budget?

Also noting that there is no more X1900GTs produced. It is replaced by the X1950pro which performs similiarly while giving the user a better cooling solution, cooler card (sinces its based on the RV570 core i.e 80nm smaller die size) and enhanced crossfire solution e.g the dongle is gone, and you get Crossfire connectors.

Depends on how much your budget is... I have the x1900gt and it holds up pretty well, just needed a new cooler for the noise of the stock fan.

Cookie the x1900gt also has the dongle-less CF. The only problem with the x1950pro's is that there's no chance of unlocking them to x1900xt status.

What would be an ideal fan to put on this badboy? I like cool and quiet.

Also how do these stand up to a 7900GT/GS?

Are you saying I can unlock piplines?

#1: Accelero X2
#2: Better than GS, just a little under the GT
#3: If you can get the HIS from newegg the pipes will unlock. I can pm you the techpowerup link once I find it again.

My x2 has got a nasty vibration now. Have contacted ncix about rma, but how annoying. Next time will likely get zalman again. To the op, am very happy with my x1900gt.

Yes but doesnt have the connectors if memory serves me right. The X1950pro has a different PCB design that includes the two Crossfire connectors for more optimal performance in dual GPU situation.

In performance terms, a 7900GT sometimes wins (especially games where its texture heavy or OpenGL), but the X1900GT will win most of them by a few fps. However if your a OCer then theres a chance to turn that 7900GT into a 7900GTX by a vmod. A 7900GS is a monster OCer by the way.
